A successful business is aiming to generate the maximum business value for the minimum cost. However, this is not all, it is also necessary to understand enablers and disablers. Enablers and disablers may be internal or external as well as direct or indirect. Furthermore, enablers may become disablers and vice versa, making it important to recognise the tipping point.

Business value may be difficult to identify and even harder to measure. It is important to baseline the business value, cost drivers and enablers to understand where you are and where you will be if you do nothing. Only then can you evaluate the impact of your actions with any accuracy.
